This October, we were delighted to announce that television presenter, author and naturalist Chris Packham is our new ambassador. Chris, who presents the BAFTA award-winning series Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch for the BBC, was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome in 2005, when he was in his 40s.

We also went onto ITV’s This Morning along with their guests, Gayna Pealling and Daniel Ball. You may remember, that Gayna was travelling on a train with her autistic son, Jack, and his sister Amy, when Jack began having a meltdown. Instead of ignoring the situation, Daniel, another passenger on the train, started distracting and playing with Jack, eventually calming him down. We loved this story!

And finally, who could forget, we launched the National Autistic Society’s Autism Hour with shopping centre owner, intu. 4,977 shops and services joined took simple steps to become more autism friendly, that’s 8,080 hours across the entire week. We also met the Prime Minister during the week to tell her about the campaign. Now we are already busy working on how we can make Autism Hour 2018 bigger and better.
