Kieran

My son Kieran is seven. Since the age of five, nothing has meant more to him than Christmas.

Life for Kieran is about a summer holiday for two weeks and the rest of the time CHRISTMAS!

He plays with reindeer and Christmas toys non-stop all year round. He’s obsessed with tracking Santa and with what the reindeer might be doing in June!

Christmas has not always been easy. For four years, we couldn't wrap presents. It was overwhelming and would cause all sorts of meltdowns. He was afraid of Santa and although be excited about him coming, would stay awake all night in case he saw him and was scared.

Since he was five, everything changed. Life for Kieran is about a summer holiday for two weeks and the rest of the time CHRISTMAS! He loves everything about it –we can wrap presents, sing songs and talk about Christmas day in day out. He loves it. It makes such a difference seeing him get over one of his many struggles. To turn it into something so enjoyable is fantastic. He should be the face of Christmas. To me, he is Christmas. A new gift everyday.

Christmas plans no longer need to be changed. Kieran adapts well although the buildup does mean he struggles to concentrate and has many sleepless nights before Christmas. Last Christmas Eve, he did not sleep once. We cannot count down using sleeps as when he wakes during the night, crosses this off as a sleep, and as a result thinks Christmas is about five days earlier!

A perfect Christmas is every Christmas now. The whole family happily get together and celebrate knowing it is special to us all, but that Kieran can now enjoy it with us too.
