Day service in South Manchester for adults with autism. Our day service gives adults with autism the chance to learn and to try new experiences. We offer a range of groups, classes and activities in our centres and in community settings, allowing people to follow their interests and develop their life skills and knowledge in a meaningful way. We offer our day services across two resource centres located in Northenden village, South Manchester, which boasts local shops, cafes, parks and libraries, all within walking distance. Good transport links provide access to central Manchester and further amenities. Our service is open to anyone with a diagnosis of autism and as our programmes are flexible and tailored to what each person needs and wants, people can choose the centre which best meets their needs. We offer programmes during half terms and summer holidays. Activities and support we offer within our resource centres: accredited programmes including ASDAN in a range of subjects; meal preparation and cooking; information and computer technology; health and fitness; sound, rhythm and music; arts and crafts workshops; reflexology and Indian head massage; horticulture; multi-sensory room experience; social skills programme; work preparation; money and budgeting skills. Activities in the community include: canal barge trips; trampolining; ten-pin bowling; velodrome cycling; Chill Factore snow activities; swimming; further and higher college education; personal shopping; eating out; travel training; climbing wall. Staff are specially trained to provide standards of support to people with autism, receiving autism training and continuing to expand their knowledge and skills throughout their careers. Staff are required to complete the City and Guilds Learning Disability Qualification (LDQ) Award and work to achieve National Vocational Qualifications/Diplomas as part of their ongoing professional development. All our services in the North of England are administered from the office in Great Harwood, Lancashire..
