Logo: Supported by Trafigura Foundation

The NAS now operates a welfare rights service providing advice and support in all aspects of social security benefit entitlement. This includes advice on which benefits you may be entitled to, general advice on completing claim forms, what to do if you think a decision is wrong and how to appeal to a tribunal.

To use this service:

  • phone the Autism Helpline on 0845 070 4004 (Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm). We'll take some details of your enquiry and arrange a telephone appointment with our welfare rights adviser, who will call you back to discuss it with you in more detail
  • Email welfarerights@nas.org.uk  It would be helpful if you could confirm the name of the benefit you are enquiring about and provide as much detail as possible regarding your enquiry
  • use our online enquiry form below; we aim to reply within 14 working days. Please note that it may take us longer than this to reply if our welfare rights adviser is away.

General information about benefits can be found at www.autism.org.uk/benefits

It is helpful to know who you are (eg, person with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD); parent or carer of a child or adult with an ASD) and what the nature of your enquiry is: do you want to know more about claiming a particular benefit, for example?
