The National Autistic Society has a small team of transition development officers working across our schools and NAS Academies Free Schools in England.

Working in partnership with our school staff teams, the Transition Development Team is ensuring every family accessing The National Autistic Society's education services is empowered with information about the key changes in legislation affecting the rights and entitlements of their child as they approach adulthood. We are giving families information about the different types of adult and community service options, including our services, available to young people after attending school or college. When commissioned we can work in partnership with the local authority to identify and set up individualised support packages in local areas for school leavers.

The Transition Team is working across the South West, South East and North of England and is seeking to extend offering information and advice to the families of young people approaching adulthood outside of National Autistic Society schools. We are working across England in specific geographical areas, and we encourage parent groups and organisations to get in touch.

For more information about how The National Autistic Society can work with you to develop local services for school leavers, or to request a talk from a member of our Transition Development Team, please email transitiondevelopment@nas.org.uk.

Information about the key changes in legislation that may affect the rights and entitlements of someone with a diagnosis as they approach adulthood can be found on our transitions webpage as well as a toolkit to help support you in this transition.
