Our residential care is tailored to each child
"...we don't feel we can leave her with anyone else." Parent
The three residences, Clayton Croft, Thurnscoe House, and Thurnscoe Studios are all rated as Outstanding by Ofsted. We make sure that they are safe, secure and happy places for your child to live. Clayton Croft and Thurnscoe Studios are located in the school grounds, an easy walk to and from school. Thurnscoe House is located just over a mile away from the school in the village of Thurnscoe, which has shops, a modern health centre, chemists and many community activities and groups which welcome our children.
All of our residential provision is decorated and equipped to be low arousal, safe and secure. Children and young people are encouraged to make choices that enhance their daily lives, including what they would like to wear and eat. We try to ensure that your child makes healthy meal choices and that physical health is promoted.
Our large and experienced team of people who look after your child have very close links with the daily life of the school, supporting their teachers and carers. They will accompany your child to school each morning and make sure they are formally handed over into the care of their teacher. However, we do more than this, our residential care strategies are linked closely with educational targets, informed by specialist input and underpinned by our autism specific model of support.
