Our short breaks are the perfect chance for your child to have a holiday and do the activities they enjoy, supported at all times by people who are enthusiastic and experienced, and understand autism.
We’ll assess your child to find out what they’d like to do, so that we can give them all the support they need while they are with us. Our specialist staff will make sure they enjoy their holiday from start to finish. You and your child can visit us before their short break and we will keep in touch with you while your child is staying with us.
We have a dedicated short breaks house with four comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining area and kitchen, and access to the school’s facilities.
We offer a wide range of activities on our short breaks, including:
- Walks in the local area
- Day trips to the beach and to parks
- Swimming in local pools
- Physical activities on our Meadow
- Cooking, art and leisure activities within the campus.
Above all, a short break is about having fun, although we’ll be helping your child to develop their independence and skills while they’re with us. It can also be a useful stepping stone from home to adult services and independent living.
If your child uses our outreach service, they can come on a short break with us, and they’ll be supported by staff they already know.
Any child with autism can use our short breaks service, whether they attend Daldorch or not.
"A short break isn’t school, it’s a break: it’s time away from home and school."
