Ask autism places the autistic voice at the centre of all its work which is developed and delivered by autistic people. The language used by Ask autism is the preferred terminology of all involved in the project.

The ethos behind Ask autism is in line with the recommendations made in the statutory guidance of the Autism Strategy in England, ‘Fulfilling and Rewarding Lives’ 2010. The guidance suggests that training should be developed in partnership with people on the autism spectrum.

Ask autism online training modules also support organisations in meeting their responsibilities against the different autism strategies across the UK. Ask autism underpins the directive that local authorities and local NHS bodies should train staff to enable them to provide appropriate services and support people on the autism spectrum.

Ask autism supports the mission to put participation at the heart of professional learning, a theme which runs through all aspects of autism strategy work in the UK.
