This guide was been produced in 2011 by The National Autistic Society Northern Ireland (NAS), the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL)Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI) and Employers for Disability NI (EFDNI).

It aims to:

  • raise awareness of autism among employers
  • outline the benefits of employing an autistic person
  • help employers understand the adjustments that an autistic person may need in the workplace
  • inform employers about their duties to autistic people under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA)
  • provide information about the support programmes available to both employers and autistic employees
  • signpost employers to further information and advice on autism.
