Our shortlist for the Autism Uncut media awards category of 'Drama' has been selected by our panel of judges, comprising of Kate Fox, Gill Wilson and Jules Hussey. The drama category looks for the best fictional representation of autism in TV and radio dramas last year.

 

Holby City

Photo: Autism Uncut judge, actor Jules RobertsonBritish BBC drama and mainstream soap opera, Holby City, saw its new autistic character, Jason, make his debut last year. Jason is played by Jules Robertson, a young actor who is also autistic.

The A Word

 The A WordWritten by Peter Bowker, BBC's The A Word focuses on a family living in the Lake District and their young son who receives a diagnosis of autism. We see how autism is perceived in families and the wider community, as well as the experience of the autistic child.

The Bridge

The BridgeScandinavian crime TV series, The Bridge, created and written by Hans Rosenfeldt, features female protagonist Saga, and it is suggested that she is on the autism spectrum.
