Jill Hampson from Liverpool organised a 'Rock for Autism' night

There are loads of ways in which you can raise money to help the us support people with autism and their families.

You can take part in one of our Train Walks or, if there isn't one near to you, why not organise your own? Anyone can do a Train Walk; wherever you are or whatever your age, you will have lots of fun and it's great exercise.

Or why not do something completely different? You could organise a car boot sale or garden party; run a disco or ball; go extreme and have a sponsored leg wax or head shave - or if you prefer not to lose your hair, just dye it a crazy colour and get your family and friends to sponsor you; or if you enjoy an adrenalin rush, maybe do a parachute jump.

Vicky Angell, whose son Nathan has autism, held a tarantula in her bare hands for over a minute and raised an amazing £1,145 for the NAS.

Vicky faces her fears by holding a tarantula to raise money for the NASI was really keen to fundraise for the NAS, because I know how much they do for people with autism like Nathan, by offering support and advice when families really need it. I often look at the NAS website for information and wanted to find a way to show my appreciation.

My friends and family know how petrified I am of anything with eight legs, so I knew they would be happy to sponsor me if I agreed to hold a tarantula!
