Autism UncutAfter another successful year, we want to take the chance to thank all of our corporate partners for their support and generosity. With your help, together we have managed to support more autistic people and their families across the UK. Here are some of our corporate partnership highlights from 2017.

Axcis Education

AxcisAxcis Education is the UK’s leading recruiter specialising in SEND educational staff and has been our close partner since 2011.

This year Axcis continued to support us with many of our projects. They are our exclusive sponsor of Network Autism, a platform allowing autism professionals to connect and share their expertise. They continued to support us through our MyWorld campaign, which provides teachers and education professionals with free information and resources to help support autistic pupils at school.

Most recently Axcis supported our report on autism and education. The education system more than often acts as a barrier between autistics students and learning. With the support of Axcis, The National Autistic Society worked with politicians to formulate a report to reflect the situation, which included recommendations for the government to use. Axcis also supported our Autism Professional Conference. Our conferences provide a platform for greater collaboration amongst autism professionals helping to share information and best practice.

We are extremely grateful to Axcis and look forward to working with them in 2018.

National Garden Scheme

National Garden SchemeThe National Garden Scheme opens beautiful gardens to the public throughout the year in order to raise money and awareness for charities. Earlier this year the National Garden Scheme partnered with our charity as their Gardening and Wellbeing beneficiary.

Their support meant we could bring the significant benefits of cultivating and spending time in a beautiful garden to more autistic people and their families through our local branches across the UK. This project has been a huge success, with branches using their grants in ways that suit their community, including visits to gardens, starting gardening clubs, building allotments to grow fruit and veg, building sensory gardens and so much more.

Thank you to the National Garden Scheme who have offered fantastic opportunities to many autistic people, their families and carers this year.

Morrisons Foundation

MorrisonsThe Morrisons Foundation generously donated £81,690 to kick-start our new sessions for families of newly diagnosed children across the UK.

The sessions are designed to provide information, advice and support. The focus is on helping parents make sense of their child’s diagnosis and feel better able to support them. They will also provide a crucial opportunity for parents to meet others in the same situation and share their experiences.

Diana and David, parents of Edward, told us, “I found talking to other families particularly helpful. It was so good to listen to people in the same situation and build relationships with local families.” So far, with this support, 514 parents have benefitted from one of the 29 sessions already delivered and there is still much more to do in 2018.

Thank you to the Morrisons Foundation for helping us provide this much-needed support.

Tangle Teezer

Tangle TeezerThe highlight of our year with Tangle Teezer was working in partnership on our Autism Uncut Awards event. Tangle Teezer recognised the necessity for honest and inclusive representation of autism on screen.

As part of the awards we invited aspiring filmmakers to create original short films to shed light on the real world of autism. The awards also highlighted the best journalism, TV documentaries and dramas, plays and other media from 2016 that helped improve autism understanding. Not to mention, their fab employees have also been taking part in a whole range of fundraising activities!

We would sincerely like to thank Tangle Teezer for your continued and brilliant support throughout this year.

Thank you all for a great 2017. If your company would like to find out about opportunities to work with the charity in 2018 please get in touch at corporate.partnerships@nas.org.uk
