Mark Lever speaking at the AMG BallAcclaimed singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé performed alongside JP Cooper last night at the glamorous AMG Charity Ball at The Grange Tower Bridge Hotel in London. Guests included our charity's Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex GCVO.

The AMG Charity Ball, organised by film producer, investor and philanthropist Alan Govinden and his wife Maria, was a fundraiser for The National Autistic Society, and two other charities close to their hearts, the NSPCC and Duke of York Community Initiative.

The Ball was attended by over 300 guests. Her Royal Highness Countess of Wessex, who is Patron of The National Autistic Society and the NSPCC, was the guest of honour.

Alan Govinden has five children, one of whom, Jonathan is autistic. He is a passionate supporter of The National Autistic Society. Alan became involved with the NSPCC while filming a documentary with one of their trustees and most inspiring fundraisers, David Tait.

The evening started with a champagne reception followed by a three course dinner. The entertainment kicked off with a performance from 10-year-old Calum Courtney, who is autistic. Calum was followed by Emeli Sandé, JP Cooper, The Beagles and DJ Miranda.

Alan Govinden, creator of the AMG Charity Ball, said, “Not only did our guests enjoy a fantastic evening of entertainment, but they were also incredibly generous, which will go a long way in supporting all three charities.

The National Autistic Society work tirelessly to support and empower autistic people like my son, Jonathan, and their families.  I want to give something back, to help more people, and promote better understanding of autism across the country.

Mark Lever, our charity's Chief Executive, said, “We are so thrilled and grateful to be part of the inaugural AMG Charity Ball. Supporters like Alan and all his generous guests allow the charity to continue supporting autistic children, adults and their families, as well as raising awareness and understanding of autism within society.”
