Fundraisers Simon and Helen Ward have successfully returned home in Mengeham Rythe, Hayling Island, after finishing their epic sailing challenge around Britain.

Welcome home

The experienced sailors departed on their boat, Kairos 11, on the 1 June and have been sailing around Britain for the past three months, updating everyone on their tales of adventure on their blog, Crazy Sails.

During their trip, they visited England, Scotland, Wales, Northern and Southern Ireland.

Sharing why they chose to fundraise for The National Autistic Society, they said:

“There are many charities we could have chosen but having this personal connect with and understanding of autism, we decided that we wanted to support the work of The National Autistic Society, to raise awareness of the challenges that children and young adults, like our nephew William, face on a daily and indeed forever basis…”

“We also wanted to support all the families and carers who turn to The National Autistic Society’s helpline for advice and support and just to help them cope with the tremendous stress that caring for a person with autism brings.”

The impressive duo have exceeded their target and raised an incredible £2,727 so far! We would like to say a massive well done and thank you to them for being such superb sailors!
