Our NASPlus project is offering a free social skills course for autistic people in West Lothian (including Asperger syndrome) and over the age of 16.

The course, known as Socialeyes, is aimed at individuals who want to further develop independence and learn new skills. It begins with a module which explores what autism is and what it can mean for individuals, and continues with another eight modules that cover the following topics:

  • starting a conversation
  • eye contact
  • personal space
  • taking turn in a conversation
  • keeping on topic
  • talking about interests
  • sensitive topics
  • ending a conversation

Our NASPlus project is intended to support individuals with self-management, and as such it cannot support individuals with more complex needs. If you are under-16, or would like more information on what other support is available, please contact Signpost West Lothian on 01506 431123 or http://signpost-online.co.uk/.

The course starts on 18 May and will be held in Livingston. The Socialeyes course is expected to last 21 weeks but may last longer if those attending feel they would like more time to cover the topics. To register your interest please email nasplus@nas.org.uk.
