Just £50 helps us to give practical support to someone with autism who is looking for work
David is 21 and has Asperger syndrome. His transition from school to adulthood was a particularly difficult time, as his father recalls:
Once they leave school they kind of go off the radar, which is a shame as they need so much support. David really wants to be independent. After he left college he signed on until he got on The National Autistic Society’s employment training service. They helped him get a job as a cleaner.
The NAS employment training service is fantastic, they have a great deal of understanding, they know what they’re doing. If it wasn’t for The National Autistic Society I don’t know what we’d do.
Only 15% of adults with autism are in full-time paid employment. With your support, more adults with autism can get the skills and confidence they need to secure a fulfilling job. Just £50 will help us to give practical support to someone with autism who is looking for work.
