Our outreach service is for people with autism and Asperger syndrome who may need some support in day-to-day life, and with accessing services and the local community. The service is available in York and West, East and North Yorkshire.

All our staff receive autism-specific training and take a person-centred approach to their work, that is, they put the person with autism and their needs and aspirations at the centre of the work they do.

Outreach support may be offered to people:

  • in supported living accommodation
  • in a sheltered housing scheme
  • in the family home
  • in the community.

Individual packages will include:

  • autism-specific, person-centred support
  • support with goal-setting
  • support with general issues relating to autism or Asperger syndrome
  • strategies to keep safe
  • support to maintain and develop new relationships with family and friends
  • opportunities to go out and about in the community.

Individual packages can include:

  • support to access the local community, for example going shopping; attending college or university; accessing health care and leisure facilities; and using public transport
  • support with independent living and household management skills.
