Supported living

Adults with autism and Asperger syndrome can sometimes find it difficult to live in their own homes without the right support. We help adults with autism to enjoy independent lives, either living on their own or in shared houses. Our trained staff can provide anything from a few hours of support a week to help with everyday tasks, to comprehensive 24-hour care packages for people with more complex needs.

We work closely with a number of housing providers to help people to obtain and maintain suitable accommodation. Our support is tailored to people's individual requirements and preferences.

Outreach

We provide innovative and flexible support for people who want to develop their independent living skills or take part in activities in their community.

We work with people in the long term, or over a short period, to meet specific goals. Support may be on a one-to-one basis or in a group and we arrange times and hours to suit each person's requirements.

Person-centred approach

We work closely with each person to develop an individual support plan and put it into practice. We regularly review plans to ensure the service adapts to changes in the person's life. The person with autism is always at the centre of what we do, and we make sure the important people in their lives, such as family and friends, are involved in the planning and delivery of our service.

Individual packages include support with:

  • general issues relating to autism or Asperger syndrome
  • meeting objectives
  • strategies to keep safe
  • maintaining relationships with family and friends
  • participating in the community
  • attending college
  • independent living skills and household management skills
  • developing social skills
  • finding and maintaining employment.
