Our specialist day services provide a friendly and highly-structured environment for adults with autism and Asperger syndrome. We offer a range of leisure, educational, and vocational activities, based in our specialist Atlas centre in Clayton-le-Moors, and out in the community. With our support, people with autism and Asperger syndrome have the opportunity to take part in their community, socialise, develop new and existing skills and become more independent.

My son feels comfortable and secure... His communication skills are improving and his self-confidence has greatly increased.
Parent

We run the ASDAN award, an accredited, innovative curriculum in the areas of personal, social and workrelated learning. All ASDAN awards and qualifications are designed to:

  • encourage person-centred learning
  • challenge people to achieve
  • enable people to learn through experience
  • encourage a wide range of skill development
  • reward success.

We also offer a wide range of groups and activities that provide opportunities to learn and try new, interesting experiences. People who use our day services can choose from a number of flexible support options, all tailored to individual requirements. They can attend for specific sessions or on specific days.

Environment and facilities

From the Atlas centre, which is based near Accrington, we can access a wealth of public amenities as well as the beautiful countryside of the Ribble Valley. Our specialist centre has excellent facilities, including a sensory room, IT suite, art and craft area, fitness area and a kitchen to develop independent life skills.

Person-centred approach

We work with each person and their families and carers to put together a plan of support and activities which reflects their interests and aspirations. Our knowledge and experience allow us to communicate with each person in the way that they prefer, so that all our interactions are meaningful. This, combined with our holistic assessment process, helps us to recognise the support each person needs and to plan their programme with them.

Activities include:

  • ASDAN award in personal development
  • art sessions
  • archery
  • music sessions
  • women's health
  • reflexology sessions
  • canoeing
  • gardening
  • ICT
  • cooking
  • supported employment
  • leisure and sports
  • personal care and behaviour management.

We also support people with autism and Asperger syndrome to do other activities they are interested in.

Our team

All our staff are trained to support people with autism and they continue to expand and develop their knowledge throughout their career. This ensures we provide a first class service where people thrive and are truly valued. We use the SPELL framework and the TEACCH approach, designed to support people with autism by providing essential structure and giving a means of clear communication.
