'Access to employment' is a ten-week course for adults with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who are interested in exploring employment but are not yet ready to start looking for a job. The course is held in London so participants need to be able to travel to us. The course is free to all our participants and any travel costs incurred within London are reimbursed.
How does it work?
The course runs for ten weeks and involves a series of group workshops of no more than six participants. These will take place two half-days a week, and look at the world of work and issues that can form potential barriers and problems for participants. We'll look at disability awareness; occupational choice; independence skills; social and communication skills; confidence building; emotion management; coping strategies; and life planning.
There will also be the opportunity to plan and attend social outings to various locations in London. Previous trips have included visits to the London Transport Museum, HMS Belfast and the BBC studios.
