People socialising

Our expertise and resources are available not only to the young people in our school, but also to other young people with autism who live locally, to their parents, and to the professionals working with them.

Our support is tailored to each young person. It helps them to participate in their local community and to fulfil their potential by developing their confidence and independence.

Training for professionals and support programmes for parents

We run workshops and training in a range of autism-related subjects, for both parents and professionals. hey may be held in the community or in our state-of-the-art training centre.

We have courses to meet the needs of professionals at all levels of involvement with children with autism, from basic autism awareness to specialist autism training accredited by Bath University.

Youth club

Our youth club for teenagers takes place every Saturday morning and allows young people to enjoy a range of indoor and outdoor activities including sensory play and stimulation, a pool table, computers, games, Xbox, art and craft, and a tuck shop. Priority for places is given to young people who are unable to access other clubs and activities outside the school day. While their teenagers enjoy the youth club, parents have the opportunity to get together as a support group.

Short break service

Our short break service provides overnight care to young people (ten to 23 years) with autism in order to benefit from the care and support of our staff while their parents and families have a short break.

We also provide a flexible outreach service to support young people with autism from across North Devon to access the local community. These breaks can be for as little as two hours, and are flexible to fit in with family life.

Education support service

We provide a specialist support service for children and young people with autism aged five to 19 and
for the professionals working with them in a range of educational settings. This is a preventative service aimed at those at risk of placement breakdown.
