A research project at Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking boys and girls with an autism spectrum disorder for this research study into sex differences in autism.

The aim of this study is to investigate how boys and girls with autism spectrum conditions compare in terms of their symptoms, thinking styles, and behaviours. The researchers are looking for children, aged 4-19, who have been diagnosed with ASD, and their families, to take part in this research project.

The researchers will work with your child in a quiet room either at their school or in your home (if it is more convenient for you). This will involve your child playing with various toys and observing their play pattern. This will take approximately 30-60 minutes. The research team would also like parents to complete questionnaires about their child’s symptoms and behaviours. There will be a small token of appreciation for helping with the research.

For those who wish to volunteer for this project, please email Camilla Nguyen at cnguye03@mail.bbk.ac.uk or call 07400 909 130 to obtain the information sheet and consent form.

The results of the study will be written up in a report. Your child will not be identifiable in the write-up or any publication which might ensue.

Your participation is valuable to this area of research and greatly appreciated.
