A researcher at the University of Manchester is looking for participants to take part in a study into self-perception in adolescents with autism and Williams syndrome.

Who can take part?

Adolescents (13-18 years old) with:

  • an ASD diagnosis
  • an IQ score under 70 (assessed by researcher)
  • a receptive vocabulary of more than 5 years age equivalent (assessed by researcher).

We are unable to include adolescents with a diagnosis of other intellectual disability syndromes (e.g. Downs syndrome, etc).

What will the study involve?

  • Questionnaire for parents (40 yes/no questions which will take around 10 minutes to answer).
  • Six tasks for adolescents - simple and fun tasks (e.g. puzzles, picture and word matching, taking around 60 minutes).

The session will take place at the school the child is attending. A home visit could be arranged if preferred.

Benefits of participation

We provide reports on the well-established measures: WASI and BPVS.
