Taking part in a challenge event is a great way to fundraise for The National Autistic Society.
As a charity, we rely on the support of people like you to help us improve the lives of people living with autism.
About the event
Date: 16 September 2012
Location: Newcastle-Gateshead
Distance: 13.1 miles/21 kilometres
Registration fee: £46
Minimum sponsorship: £350
2012 is not only the year that the Olympics comes to the UK; it's also the year that The National Autistic Society celebrates its 50th anniversary. Why not celebrate with us by taking part in the world's biggest half-marathon: the Bupa Great North Run.
The hugely popular run, which starts in Newcastle and finishes in South Shields, attracts an eclectic mix of fun runners, celebrities, fundraisers, fancy dress plodders along and international athletes from around the world.
From start to finish, you'll be entertained by a wide range of musicians, all playing as hard as they can to help keep you going. As well as the pounding of fifty thousand feet on the streets, the cities of Newcastle, Gateshead and all places in between will move to the sound of rock, pop, brass, strings, steel and samba.
