Act 1 - Albertville to La Toussuire
The first Etape du Tour will take place in the Alps on Sunday 8 July 2012.
Replicating Stage 11 of the 2012 Tour de France, it will start from the Winter Olympic city of Albertville and is a classic Alpine stage, taking in the climbs of the Col de la Madeleine, the Glandon, Criox de Fer and Mollard, before the final climb up to the ski resort of La Toussuire Les Sybelles.
At 140km it is a great challenge for both the experienced cyclo sportive rider and the Etape du Tour novice.
Act 2 - Pau to Bagneres de Luchon
The second Etape du Tour will take place in the Pyrenees on Saturday 14 July 2012 - Bastille Day.
This follows the route of stage 16 of the 2012 Tour de France and will start in the city of Pau, scene of many a Tour de France start and finish in the past. It is truly a classic mountain stage that traverses the Pyrenees, taking in the legendary climbs of Aubisque, Soulor, Tourmalet, Aspin and Peyresourde, before a fast descent to the finish in the spa town of Bagneres de Luchon.
At 197km, this is a very challenging route that will test even the more experienced cyclo sportive rider and being a finisher of this Etape stage will truly be an achievement to be proud of.
