Volunteering is an ideal way to develop your understanding of autism while experiencing the positive work of the NAS.
If your company is looking for a team away day, a group volunteering project for the NAS would give them the opportunity to work together to support people with autism in their local area. This can help build team morale as well as supporting your company's corporate social responsibility objectives.
We offer a variety of individual and team volunteering roles suited to all levels of commitment. They could include:
- becoming a volunteer befriender to a child or adult with autism
- redecorating one of our service buildings
- supporting NAS runners at events across the country.

EDF Energy lend a hand
For the past two years, staff from the EDF Energy Major Business Sales and Marketing team have volunteered their time to support NAS projects and services.
In summer 2008, 33 volunteers from EDF Energy did a fantastic paint job at the NAS Radlett Lodge School in Hertfordshire. The volunteers worked tirelessly to paint seven classrooms, a kitchen, two storerooms and a cloakroom - outstripping their original eight-room target.
Mark Bullard, who led the team of volunteers, said:
This was an excellent opportunity for EDF Energy to do something worthwhile for a charity that does so much good work themselves. Our volunteers really gave it their all, pulling out the stops to get as much done as possible.
The team used one of their two allocated volunteering days to support the NAS. Check with your employer whether they run a similar scheme.
