Jacqui and Luke

Jacqui's son Luke has autism and experienced 10 years of constant bullying in school. Children called him a 'freak' and a 'weirdo' and there were many times when Luke felt isolated, afraid and alone. Jacqui says:

"One day Luke was found on the street bleeding and with a black eye after a gang at school beat him up… he never went back.

"I know first-hand that a friendly and knowledgeable voice can be of amazing benefit. The National Autistic Society’s Autism Helpline can be a lifeline whenever coping with autism gets too much. It is comforting to know that parents don’t feel alone."

  • Our Autism Helpline receives 60,000 enquiries every year but not all callers are able to get through first time.
  • With your support, we can help more families to get the advice and support they need.
  • Just £5 a month will allow us to answer 15 more anxious calls.
