David

David is 21 and has Asperger syndrome. His transition from school to adulthood was a particularly difficult time, as his father recalls:

“Once they leave school they kind of go off the radar, which is a shame as they need so much support. David really wants to be independent. After he left college he signed on until he got on The National Autistic Society’s Prospects programme. They helped him get a job as a cleaner.

“Prospects is fantastic, they have a great deal of understanding, they know what they’re doing. If it wasn’t for The National Autistic Society I don’t know what we’d do.”
