If you use the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to reduce the cost of any medical treatment, then the £50 excess for each and every claim for medical and emergency expenses will not apply.

Please note that the EHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance. The EHIC allows you to access state-provided healthcare in all European Economic Area (EEA) countries and Switzerland. There are conditions and restrictions as to what is covered and the EHIC does not provide any cover for repatriation.
