Autism: best practice interventions & support
This online only 20 hour course has been developed by The National Autistic Society (NAS) and Institute of Child Education and Psychology (ICEP) Europe, in response to the need for flexible and accessible training for those who work with children and young people with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). From explanation and diagnosis to assessment and intervention, this online only course provides strategies and approaches to support the learning and personal development of the child or young person with autism. The combination of experienced NAS tutors and content delivered through a user friendly and innovative online learning environment ensures the delivery of a course which will improve your practical techniques and knowledge of ASDs. Course content: This course will examine the key aspects of ASDs, looking in detail at diagnosis, assessment, and effective intervention, and provides a route to understanding the complexity of autism. This course provides strategies that will be effective in teaching children with ASDs how to learn. The focus is on practical, evidence-based approaches to help educators modify their instruction, structure the classroom, and modify the curriculum to help maximise each child's learning potential. You will also learn how to prevent and intervene with challenging behaviour and become familiar with the principles of functional behavioural assessment. This course provides a foundation of skills for any professional working in the field of ASDs.
